WWE just turned some off-air chaos into a World Heavyweight Championship match. After the September 14, 2026 episode of WWE RAW went off the air in Mexico City, LA Knight attacked Roman Reigns and sent the champion retreating up the ramp. Roman fired back with an NSFW warning, and now there’s no more guessing — Reigns will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Knight at Money in the Bank on October 10 in New Orleans.
Knight had already made it pretty damn clear that Roman’s championship was the prize he wanted. Ringside News previously covered how WWE had Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight on the table for Money in the Bank, with a strong expectation inside the company that the match would eventually happen.
That story kept getting hotter as the two repeatedly crossed paths. Knight previously humiliated Reigns and called him a fraud on RAW, while another update made it clear that WWE had not forgotten about Roman vs. Knight while Penta was still waiting for his title shot.
Penta got that opportunity in Mexico City and pushed Reigns deep into the main event, but Roman survived and retained the championship. Knight apparently decided he wasn’t waiting around for a formal invitation after that.
He attacked Reigns once RAW was already off the air, forcing Roman back up the entrance ramp. Reigns was then caught on camera fuming over people constantly coming after him and declaring that if Knight really wanted it, he could come get it at Money in the Bank. And now he can.
Money in the Bank takes place Saturday, October 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. WWE has confirmed the show for that date and venue, with the men’s and women’s six-person ladder matches continuing to fill up through qualifying bouts.
The updated WWE Money in the Bank 2026 card currently stands as:
- World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. LA Knight
- Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Bron Breakker vs. Je’Von Evans vs. four competitors TBA. Breakker qualified on the September 7 RAW, while Evans punched his ticket in Mexico City on September 14. WWE has established the match as a six-man ladder match.
- Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Sol Ruca vs. Lola Vice vs. four competitors TBA. Ruca advanced on September 7 after Bayley’s return threw Lyra Valkyria’s qualifier into chaos, while Vice won her RAW in-ring debut to qualify on September 14. The women’s match is also set for six competitors.
As of September 14, those are the matches and participants that are actually locked into the Money in the Bank card, rather than bouts that are merely being discussed or predicted. More qualifiers are still coming, including additional Money in the Bank qualifying matches scheduled to continue on SmackDown.
Roman Reigns already had to survive Penta in a building that wanted to see him lose, and he barely had time to get out of Mexico City before LA Knight came looking for a fight. Now Knight has exactly what he wanted — Roman Reigns, one-on-one, with the World Heavyweight Championship hanging in the balance.
