The mystery surrounding John Cena’s upcoming John Cena Classic could be cleared up very soon, but WWE’s December schedule may have already dropped a pretty interesting clue. One possible date would put Cena’s event directly against one of AEW’s biggest pay-per-views of the year.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Daily Update, December 19 currently looks like the favorite date for the John Cena Classic. If WWE does go with that date, Cena’s event would run head-to-head with AEW Worlds End.

Meltzer pointed to WWE’s increasingly crowded December schedule as the reason December 19 stands out. WWE has already announced NXT TLC for December 12, the same day the company will hold Wrestlepalooza in Australia earlier that morning.

“WWE also announced that NXT TLC will take place on 12/12, which is the same day the company that morning will have Wrestlepalooza in Australia. To me, that puts 12/19 as the favorite for the Cena Classic, which would put it head-up against AEW Worlds End. But I suspect that gets announced tomorrow.”

For now, December 19 is not a confirmed date for the John Cena Classic. Meltzer is making an educated guess based on WWE’s current schedule, and he identified December 5 as seemingly the other realistic option. December 26 appears much less likely since WWE already has two house shows scheduled that night. One of those events will take place at Madison Square Garden, although Meltzer noted that it is currently advertised as a regular house show.

“It would appear the only other choice is 12/5 as I can’t see them doing it 12/26 since they are running two house shows that night, although one of them is in Madison Square Garden, but it’s already advertised as a house show.”

Fortunately, fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer for actual answers. Cena is returning on the November 2 episode of RAW at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and he has already promised to finally reveal details about the John Cena Classic. Cena previously took to Twitter to hype his RAW return while making it clear that the speculation surrounding the tournament is about to end.

“Make sure not to miss #WWERaw next week. SPECIAL START TIME OF 6PM EST! The wait is over, the speculation ends 11/2. Let’s build this ‘Never Seen’ CLASSIC! OUR time is NOW!”

Cena has kept almost everything about the tournament under wraps so far, which means his Brooklyn appearance should finally fill in some pretty massive blanks. And if December 19 really is the date WWE announces, the John Cena Classic will immediately have another storyline attached to it thanks to a potential same-night showdown with AEW Worlds End.

Do you think WWE will actually schedule the John Cena Classic against AEW Worlds End, or will Cena reveal a completely different date on RAW? Let us know what you think in the comments
