Sheamus continues to have wrestling fans wondering what the hell he’s going to do next now that he’s officially a free agent. Naturally, one fan decided to skip all the speculation and just ask The Celtic Warrior about AEW directly.

During a recent meet-and-greet, Sheamus was asked whether he was going to join AEW. He didn’t exactly give the fan the definitive answer they were looking for, instead making it clear that wrestling isn’t his biggest concern at the moment.

“I’m just enjoying my time off right now.”

Sheamus then had a little fun with the question and suggested there might be somebody else fans should be asking about his future.

“Ask my wife, she’s the one making all the decisions.”

The AEW question is especially interesting because there’s already been plenty of speculation surrounding Sheamus and Full Gear. He is scheduled to appear at Big Event NY on November 14, which happens to be the same day AEW holds the pay-per-view.

Dave Meltzer previously reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Sheamus asked whether he could leave the convention early. His stated reason was that he needed to attend a wedding, and there has been nothing confirming that his request has anything to do with Full Gear.

Still, Sheamus became a free agent after his WWE contract expired at the beginning of October, so there’s nothing preventing him from appearing elsewhere. Several AEW veterans have pushed for Tony Khan to bring him in, although there had been no substantial talks or confirmed deal as of the previous update. TNA has also expressed interest in him.

Sheamus has also made it clear that his time away shouldn’t be confused with retirement. When he was recently referred to as an “ex-luchador,” he quickly corrected that description and said he was simply enjoying a “long vacation.”

For now, Sheamus seems perfectly content letting everyone else obsess over his next destination while he enjoys that vacation. And if anybody really wants to know where he’s going next, apparently they might need to get his wife on the record.

Do you think Sheamus could still have something up his sleeve for his wrestling return, or is everyone reading too much into the speculation? Let us know what you think in the comments.
