The Best in the World, CM Punk sent shockwaves across the entire WWE landscape by making his triumphant return to the global juggernaut in November 2023, after being a decade away from the company.

Of course, amidst his lengthy absence from the company, CM Punk had his own differences with WWE and its top-tier management in regard to multiple health conditions and lawsuits.

Following his abrupt exit from AEW in August 2023 and a new WWE management in place with some of CM Punk’s former heated rivals at the helm, the former WWE champion crossed that bridge and returned to what he called, home.

However, before the comeback of one of the most controversial WWE superstars of all time came to fruition, WWE top management personnel Triple H and Nick Khan took the opinion of another of their top stars and Punk’s former AEW colleague, Cody Rhodes, as revealed by him in new interview on MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

“Nick and Hunter both told me, got my opinion. I was ready going into WarGames. For him to come out and return in that fashion, I was really happy for him.”

Despite his grand resurgence back to WWE, CM Punk’s plans to main event WrestleMania 40 were derailed due to an unfortunate triceps injury suffered at the hands of the menacing Drew McIntyre at WWE Royal Rumble 2024.

But the WWE Universe would still see CM Punk’s comeback to WrestleMania after almost 11 years as he is slated to be the guest commentator for the Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
