WWE 2K20 is out now and the reviews might make this game one of the worst received pro wrestling games in history. That includes pro wrestling video games where they didn’t even have a ring in the game.

2K was in a pretty hard position and the game came out on time, but there are a ton of things wrong with it. We’ve covered the glitches in full. #FixWWE2K20 is even trending on Twitter, but there is a reason why the game is so broken.

WWE wants their video games every year and they have a contract with 2K to get them on time. Yukes previously helped create the 2K games, but they left the partnership with 2K and that put the game in a horrible situation.

What players are utilizing in WWE 2K20 is a broken system because it is essentially a re-tooled model from the PS2 era. We’re not going to get into the technical specifics, but suffice it to say the game was doomed on the engine they used.

Characters don’t look right and the game was rushed. WWE could have waited, but they wanted the game on time. The commercial campaign was great, but the game did not deliver. It’s so bad that PlayStation is freely giving out refunds.

The fact is that Yukes left 2K and they had to get Visual Concepts to develop the game instead. That, and the fact that WWE had a deadline for them meant that they put out a game that was by no means ready.
