Vince Russo isn’t convinced Bayley jumping to AEW would suddenly solve her problems. If she does eventually make the move, Russo thinks she’ll get her “15 minutes” before AEW simply moves on to somebody else.
Speaking on the Coach and Bro Show, Russo addressed the uncertainty surrounding Bayley’s WWE future and said that if she truly isn’t happy there, he wouldn’t drag things out.
“If I’m Bayley and I’m not happy, I would ask for my release. And if I’m WWE, if you don’t wanna be here, I don’t want you here. That’s the stand I would take.”
Jonathan Coachman then brought AEW into the conversation, but he wasn’t exactly selling it as the obvious destination for Bayley. Coachman questioned how heavily AEW actually uses its women’s locker room and suggested Bayley has somebody pretty important she can ask about the situation firsthand: Mercedes Moné.
“If you look at AEW, Vince, they really don’t use that female locker room hard at all. So if they did, it’d be a bigger conversation. I’m sure she’s talked to Mercedes, and she’s like, ‘Wait a second, there’s like three of us or four, and that’s about it.’”
Vince Russo’s prediction was considerably harsher as he believes Bayley will get her 15 minutes of fame in AEW before the company forgets her and moves onto someone else.
“She’ll get her 15 minutes at AEW, and then they’ll go on to the next one.”
That comes at an interesting time considering Bayley and Mercedes have been giving fans plenty to talk about. Bayley recently uploaded training footage featuring Mercedes and captioned it “all or nothing, baby.” She also used a song called “All In,” naturally leading fans to connect both references to AEW.
There’s one pretty major problem with the All In fantasy booking, though. Bryan Alvarez recently said on Wrestling Observer Live that people he has spoken with inside AEW are just as confused by the apparent teases. The belief there is that Bayley’s WWE deal could potentially run until January, assuming WWE doesn’t add additional time.
Bayley also hasn’t signed a new WWE contract, as we had previously reported that she has a decision to make. WWE already has an easy explanation for her television absence after Lyra Valkyria left her lying at Madison Square Garden and later claimed she had “run Bayley out of here.”
So Bayley’s next move is still very much her own to make. Russo just doesn’t see AEW as some guaranteed greener pasture waiting on the other side. In his eyes, the big debut would come, the attention would follow—and then somebody else would eventually become the shiny new toy.
