Grayson Waller didn’t just unload on Zilla Fatu during NXT’s August 15 live event in Petersburg. He also got into a heated backstage confrontation with CM Punk, and WWE has now released footage of the two going face-to-face after the show.
The clip shows Waller confronting Punk and making it clear that he considers NXT his territory. Waller told Punk that the next time he wants to show up, he needs to ask permission first.
“Next time you want to come to my house, you call me and you ask for permission.”
Punk immediately pushed back, asking Waller if he was actually serious about calling NXT his house. Waller doubled down without hesitation.
“Oh, you’re serious? This is my house?”
“One hundred percent. This is my house. You want to turn up here?”
Punk sarcastically told Waller he was “really nervous,” but Waller wasn’t backing down. He then made things even more personal by claiming he plans to win the NXT Championship and eventually come after Punk.
“I’m getting the belt here, and I’m coming for you. I promise.”
Punk responded that he couldn’t wait, and the argument kept rolling. Waller pointed toward the people around them and dismissed them as Punk fans before making his own feelings very clear.
“They’re all fans. Look at them. They’re all fans. I’m not a fan of you.”
The two continued jawing at each other, with Waller telling Punk that everybody hates him and that he’s a joke. The confrontation happened during the same NXT live event where Waller also tore into Zilla Fatu after Fatu cost him his shot at becoming #1 contender for Tony D’Angelo’s NXT Championship. Waller had already been in a foul mood, and running into Punk backstage clearly didn’t help.
WWE posting the footage only adds more fuel to the situation. Waller told Punk that NXT is his house, promised he’s coming for him after winning the title, and made it clear he has absolutely no interest in showing the former WWE Champion any respect.
