Lainey Reid has finally addressed Chelsea Green getting her orbital bone broken on SmackDown, and there’s no apology coming. Reid actually took credit for what happened next—and says her only remorse is that she didn’t “finish the job.”

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Reid was asked about Green getting hurt during Fatal Influence’s Rolling Encore finisher. Her response was basically that Green couldn’t have been hurt badly enough considering she was back on television days later.

“Well, apparently not enough, because she came back out Friday and maybe had the best segment of her career, so you’re welcome, by the way. But I’m just saying, that moment doesn’t happen without Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley.”

Reid wasn’t done taking credit. She pointed to her strong-style approach and claimed Fatal Influence is bringing something WWE hasn’t seen in years. Her message to anyone getting into the ring with them was pretty simple: be ready for it. Then came the line Chelsea probably won’t forget.

“I’m a strong-style wrestler. I think Fatal Influence is a strong style that people haven’t seen in years. So if you’re not ready for the way we’re coming, you might be in trouble. The only remorse I have is she still has the chance to compete for the title. The remorse is I didn’t finish the job.”

That’s quite a response considering Green legitimately walked away with a broken orbital bone. The injury happened during Green and Tiffany Stratton’s tag team match against Reid and Fallon Henley. Fatal Influence hit the Rolling Encore at the finish, and everything looked normal enough on television. Bryan Alvarez later revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Reid actually came down on Green’s head during the move.

Green still managed to make it back to SmackDown on August 14, but she wasn’t there to wrestle. Nick Aldis told her WWE medical officials would not clear her with a broken eye socket and asked her to surrender the WWE Women’s Championship. Green refused and pleaded for more time, leading Aldis to give her 30 days to get medically cleared before her title reign is in jeopardy.

Now the woman involved in putting Green in that position has essentially poured gasoline all over the situation. Reid isn’t apologizing, she isn’t backing away from how Fatal Influence wrestles, and she just told the WWE Women’s Champion that the only part she regrets is leaving her with a chance to come back.

Chelsea has 30 days to save her title reign. If she makes it back, Lainey Reid just gave her somebody to come looking for.
