Seth Rollins has been nowhere to be found on WWE television since SummerSlam, and what started as a fairly straightforward creative break has now stretched beyond five weeks. With another week of his absence approaching, there’s finally some new word on where things stand.

During a September 7 Q&A session, WrestleVotes was asked about Rollins and when fans might expect to see him again. Interestingly, the current situation isn’t exactly how WWE’s plans were expected to play out after SummerSlam.

“The thing that I heard about Seth Rollins following SummerSlam is that this absence wasn’t supposed to be prolonged, but now we’re at week five. Next week will be week six.”

That’s the biggest change from what was being said about Rollins only a few weeks ago. His time away was originally expected to be relatively brief, but five weeks have now passed without him resurfacing.

WrestleVotes also admitted that Rollins’ name hasn’t been coming up much lately. Despite that silence, it is still expected that the former World Heavyweight Champion to make his way back before too long.

“So unless something changes, I haven’t heard his name in a while. He’ll be back relatively soon.”

Back on August 24, WrestleVotes had described Rollins’ absence as a creative decision rather than anything injury-related. At the time, the expectation was that Rollins wouldn’t be gone for particularly long.

Rollins hasn’t appeared since August 2, when he challenged Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship in the SummerSlam Night Two main event. Rollins landed multiple Pedigrees and Stomps but couldn’t finish the job. Reigns eventually put him away with multiple Spears to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, and Rollins disappeared from television immediately afterwards.

There’s still no firm date for Rollins to walk back through the curtain, and the fact that WrestleVotes hasn’t heard his name recently leaves some mystery around exactly what WWE is waiting for. The good news for fans is that “relatively soon” still appears to be the expectation, even if Rollins’ break has already lasted considerably longer than first planned.

What should WWE have Seth Rollins do when he finally returns to television? Let us know in the comments.
