Mike Santana may have just wrapped up his TNA run in brutal fashion.

TNA Slammiversary 2026 went down at the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, where Santana defended the TNA World Championship against Nic Nemeth. Santana walked in as the face of the company, but he didn’t walk out with the gold.

Nemeth didn’t sneak into this one either. He had the Call Your Shot trophy, but instead of cashing in like a thief in the night, he told Santana ahead of time that he wanted him at Slammiversary.

The match got nasty once Ryan Nemeth got involved. Ryan was eventually ejected, but the damage was already done after Nick used the Call Your Shot trophy to help bust Santana open. From there, Santana was fighting Nemeth and his own blood loss.

Santana still pushed through and tried to finish things with Spin The Block. The problem was his body gave out before he could hit it. Nemeth took advantage, nailed the Danger Zone, and won the TNA World Championship for the second time.

That finish now has people looking way past the title change. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez broke down how the ending played out, and Dave Meltzer said it looked like Santana’s TNA exit is basically written on the wall.

“That answers that question. Although we already knew the answer. TNA, it appears he’s going to WWE almost for sure. And he should, you know, it’s time, it’s time for him to go. I mean, I don’t know, like I said, like, I don’t know how he will do long term, big picture, but he’s at the stage of his career where he has to try. You know, he tried AEW, wasn’t for him. Got to try WWE. Maybe it’ll work. You know, there’s no guarantees, but you know, hopefully, hopefully it works out well for him.”

That’s a pretty loud signal. Santana lost the title in a way that protected him, since the story was blood loss and damage finally catching up to him. He didn’t just get steamrolled. He went down swinging, which is exactly how you send someone out while keeping them strong.

Santana already took his shot in AEW, but that run never turned into the singles breakout a lot of fans thought he could have. WWE would be a very different stage, and with the company always looking for tough, believable names, Santana could make sense there.

Nothing has been announced by Santana or WWE yet, but Slammiversary definitely changed the conversation. The question is no longer just why Nemeth won the title. It’s whether TNA used that finish to close the book on Santana before he moves on.

What do you think about Mike Santana likely heading to WWE after losing the TNA World Championship? Should WWE bring him in right away, or should Santana stay with TNA and keep building what he started? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comments section below.
