AEW Collision Results (8/22/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens up with Tony Schiavone and Ian Riccaboni welcoming us. Commentary then takes us back with the confrontation between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay on Wednesday’s Dynamite. They then talk about the Continental Challenge Cup tournament matches for tonight.
Orange Cassidy then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night and Kyle O’Reilly follows.
AEW Continental Cup Tournament Quarterfinal Round Match: The Conglomeration’s “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. The Conglomeration’s Kyle O’Reilly
The match starts off with Kyle O’Reilly going for a fist bump, but Orange Cassidy puts his glasses on Kyle instead. Both men then lock up as Kyle takes Cassidy down. Kyle is then taken down by Cassidy, who covers him for a one count. Kyle then reverses it and applies a head scissors on Cassidy. Cassidy then finally gets out of the hold, putting on a side headlock on Kyle. Cassidy then holds on as he is sent into the corner. Cassidy then takes down Kyle again with a side headlock. Kyle then hangs on and picks up Cassidy and drops him with a back suplex, but Cassidy holds on. Cassidy then covers Kyle for a two count. Both men then lock up again. Kyle then grabs the right arm of Cassidy as Cassidy fights him off.
Kyle then grabs Cassidy and Cassidy manages to get his hands in his pockets slipping out of the hold from Kyle. Side headlock off the ropes as Cassidy still has his hand in his pockets. Cassidy then sends Kyle to the floor. Cassidy then does a fake out and lets Kyle back in the ring. Kyle then goes to the top and comes off to get in the ring. Kyle then takes down Cassidy with a dragon screw on the ropes. Cassidy is then offered to go in with the ropes lowered by Kyle, but he rolls under the bottom rope. Kyle then snap suplexes Cassidy, who comes back with a snap suplex of his own. Cassidy then suplexes Kyle again, which happened during the ad break per commentary. Kyle then suplexes Cassidy again as we have a suplex showdown. Cassidy then charges at Kyle and suplexes him as both men go to opposite corners.
Both men then shake hands and slug it out with slaps and kicks. Kyle then comes back with a big lariat on Cassidy as both men are down. Kyle then kicks Cassidy, but he is quick to get up. Kyle then kicks Cassidy. Kyle then applies the ankle lock on Cassidy, but he makes it to the ropes to break the hold. Cassidy then picks up Kyle and slams him down. He then goes for a cover, but Kyle kicks out at two. Cassidy then DDT’s Kyle, but its still not enough to keep Kyle down. Cassidy then goes to top and comes down as Kyle rolls him up for a two count. Cassidy then hits a PK on Kyle. Kyle then gets the ankle lock on Cassidy and is holding on. Kyle then breaks the hold as Cassidy rolls him over, but Kyle grabs the ankle and its enough for Cassidy to give up.

After the match, both men show great sportsmanship. Kyle moves on in the tournament.
We are then shown footage of Nigel McGuinness and Will Ospreay after the latest Dynamite. McGuinness isn’t sure if he can continue through the tournament even though he’s made it to the semifinals. Ospreay then tells him that he was an inspiration to British wrestlers from his generation and continues to inspire this generation with his persistence. Ospreay then says he isn’t sure if he can win at All In, but knows McGuinness can. McGuinness then says he is proud of Ospreay and is swelling with pride any time he sees Ospreay in the ring in AEW. He then says he has the opportunity to do what no British wrestler has done and that is win the world title at Wembley Stadium. McGuinness then says he believes in Ospreay and Ospreay just needs to find that belief for himself.
Divine Dominion then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and their opponents are already in the ring.
5-Minute AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Eliminator Match: AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion (“The Megasus” Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) vs. Tiana James and Erica Leigh
The match starts off with Bayne double German suplexing both Leigh and James. Kross is then tagged in and she dumps Leigh. Bayne is then tagged in. They then look at the camera and tell the Brawling Birds they can do it better. Bayne and Kross then hits Leigh with the two birds, one stone. Bayne then covers Leigh, but pulls her up. They then hit Leigh with the Divine Intervention, with Bayne covering Leigh for the win.

We then get an update on Darby Allin, who suffered several burns after he was caught in a random pyrotechnics mishap. Allin still plans on challenging Kevin Knight for the TNT Championship at All In next weekend.
Daniel Garcia then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Claudio Castagnoli follows. Garcia looks on as Castagnoli slowly enters the ring.
AEW Continental Cup Tournament Quarterfinal Round Match: The Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli vs. The Death Riders’ Daniel Garcia
The match starts off with Daniel Garcia and Claudio Castagnoli locking up. Claudio then pushes Garcia to the corner. The referee then calls for a break, which is clean. Claudio then quickly takes down Garcia, grabbing him and attempting a pin, but Garcia goes to the ropes. The fans then start chanting “Claudio.” Garcia then pushes Claudio and jaws at him. Garcia then backslides Claudio for a two count and tries for another pin, but Claudio kicks out again. Garcia then chops Claudio. Garcia then hits Claudio with a dragon screw. The action then goes to the floor as Garcia nails Claudio with forearms. Claudio is now sitting in a chair at ringside as Garcia charges at him and hits him with a big kick.
Garcia then is hit from behind by Claudio and he is sent over the barricade to the front row. Garcia then eats a series of uppercuts in the corner, but defies Claudio. Garcia then dances, goading Claudio into a near fall with a schoolboy. Garcia then takes Claudio across the way for a series of punches. Claudio then shakes him off and Garcia baits him in again by faking an injury to his ankle. Garcia then cinches in a Dragon Tamer. Claudio then reaches back as Garcia goes deep with the submission and Garcia responds with a guillotine. Claudio then tries to shake him off, but Garcia hangs on and turns it into a sleeper hold. Claudio then fights it for what feels like a minute before finally shaking him off for a short giant swing. Garcia then responds with a Busaiku Knee. Garcia is too tired to go for the pin.
After recovering, Garcia goes for a Neutralizer, but Claudio picks the ankle. Garcia then responds with another sleeper. Garcia then hits Claudio with a Neutralizer after Garcia nearly puts Claudio to sleep with the sleeper and he gets a near fall. Claudio then responds with a pop-up uppercut, but Garcia kicks out. Garcia is then caught in Claudio’s version of the Dragon Tamer. Garcia then spits in Claudio’s face and flips him off, leading to Claudio tearing the boot off the injured ankle and doing a one-legged swing. Garcia then finds himself holding onto the ropes as he stands up and eats a nasty running European uppercut. Garcia then kicks out. Claudio then looks to end it with a straitjacket powerbomb. Instead of going for the pin, he transitions into another Sharpshooter, this time giving it an extra twist to the injured ankle of Garcia and Garcia taps out.

We then get a video package looking at the feud between Mercedes Moné and Willow Nightingale.
Commentary then announces the semifinal matchups that will take place on Wednesday. Nigel McGuinness will face Kyle O’Reilly and Claudio Castagnoli will face AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley.
We then get a video package featuring The Dogs.
The Hurt Syndicate and Lee Moriarty then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and their opponents are already in the ring.
Trios Match: The Hurt Syndicate (“The All Mighty” Bobby Lashley and “The Standard of Excellence” Shelton Benjamin) and Shane Taylor Promotions’ ROH Pure Champion “TAIGASTYLE” Lee Moriarty vs. Ryan O’Neill, Nick Nolan and Matt Maco
The match starts off with Shelton slams Maco down. The Hurt Syndicate then bring in Nolan and O’Neill. Shelton and Lashley then makes quick work of Neill and sends Nolan on the floor, while Moriarty submits Maco in the ring for the win.

After the match, Shane Taylor insults the fans and says greatness looks like Lee Moriarty cleaning out the entire pure division of ROH. Taylor then says greatness is STP becoming the greatest trios champions of all time. Taylor then issues and open challenge, that bring the arena to go dark, with the music of the Bang Bang Gang hitting as they make their way out and down to the ring for this impromptu match.
Trios Match: Bang Bang Gang (“Switchblade” Jay White, Colten Gunn and Austin Gunn) vs. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo and “Captain” Shawn Dean)
The match starts off with Jay White and Carlie Bravo. Colten is then tagged in and Sean Dean is tagged in as well. The Infantry then double team Colten. Austin then makes a blind tag, hitting the ropes and taking down Bravo. Austin then hits Dean with a big right hand. Taylor is then tagged in as he hits Austin with a big right hand. Austin then takes Shawn Dean’s Bronco Buster in the corner. Colten then finally gets back in and lights up all three members of Shane Taylor Promotions. A dropkick then hammers Bravo, but as he goes for the Fameasser on Dean, Taylor comes in with a big clothesline. White then meets Taylor in the ring and hits him with a series of chops.
Taylor then refuses to be sent into the corner and hits White with a back body drop. The Gunns then hit Shawn Dean with a double DDT and they get Shane Taylor up for 3:10 to Yuma. Taylor then falls to the floor just as Jay White hits the Bladerunner on Bravo for the win.

After the match, White is handed a mic. White then does the Gunns up schtick. White then says this past Wednesday the Continental Cup didn’t go his way. White then calls out The Dogs and how they got the best of him after the Gunns took the week off. White then calls out the world trios champions. White then says he doesn’t need the help of the trios champs and they never lost the titles. White then says the trios division is the wild west and they are coming for the gold and get a standing ovation.
We then head to the back, where Kyle O’Reilly cuts a promo on the Continental Cup tournament. He says he drew his two best friends in the first two rounds and those were the matches he was worried about. He then says this tournament is now his for the taking. Willow Nightingale, who is defending the Women’s World Title tonight, then says she’ll win the match with a smile on her face.
We then get a narrated video package from Ian Riccaboni giving a history of Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay in NJPW.
Nick Wayne and Tommaso Ciampa then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Komander and Mike Bailey follow.
Tag Team Match: “The Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa and Nick Wayne vs. Komander and “Speedball” Mike Bailey
The match starts off with Mike Bailey and Tommaso Ciampa and Bailey hits Ciampa with a series of strikes. Ciampa then decides to let Nick Wayne get involved. Wayne then asks for Komander, but he blindsides Bailey when he turns his back. Komander then tags in and he hits a double jump springboard moonsault on Wayne. Ciampa then breaks up the pin, but he and Wayne are tossed to the floor following a couple of running ranas and dropkicks. Komander and Bailey then hit stereo suicide dives, sending their opponents into the table. Ciampa and Wayne then takes over the match and Bailey gets the tag. Bailey then hits Wayne with a missile dropkick and follows it up with a series of kicks.
Bailey then hits a running Shooting Star for a two count. Ciampa then avoids another Shooting Star and he takes Bailey’s head off with a big boot, turning him inside out. Bailey then responds with a backdrop counter to Ciampa’s Project Ciampa attempt and following it up with a standing Shooting Star Knee drop to Ciampa’s chest. Komander then tags in as does Wayne and he shows of his impressive and unbelievable rope work. After tripping Wayne up, Komander hits a double jump, diving crossbody for a two count. Ciampa then goes for a Project Ciampa, but he is taken out by Bailey. Komander then hits a destroyer on Wayne for another two count. Komander’s Cielito Lindo then fails to hit Ciampa.
Wayne then nearly gets him with a rope-assisted pin, but manages to nail Komander with a big kick thanks to Ciampa tearing at Komander’s mask. Wayne then hits a Prodigy Plex for the win.

After the match, Ciampa refuses to shake Wayne’s hand and shoves him to the ground. Ciampa then does give Wayne a mocking round of applause.
We then get a video package featuring the International Championship Match that will take place at All In.
We then get a promo from Wheeler Yuta on behalf of the Death Riders. He says the draw for the semifinals sucks, but Moxley and Claudio will bring out the best in each other because that’s what the Death Riders are about. Moxley then tells Yuta to shut up, and Claudio asks, “Sucks for who?” Wheeler then asks how Garcia’s ankle feels and he says it sucks.
Maya World then makes her way down to the ring for the main event of the night and Willow Nightingale follows.
AEW Women’s World Championship Match: The Conglomeration’s Willow Nightingale (c) vs. AEW TBS Champion Maya World
The match starts off with Willow Nightingale sending Maya World to the corner. Both women then lock up. World and Willow then hit the ropes as Willow takes down World. World then grabs Willow from behind. World then breaks the hold as Willow picks up World and drops her down. Willow then runs the ropes, taking down World with a running shoulder tackle. World runs the ropes as Willow goes for a lariat, but World ducks it. World then grabs the arm of Willow as she holds on to the ropes. Willow then hammers World in the corner. Willow then goes for a lariat, but World ducks it. World then sends Willow to the floor. World then hits a crossbody on Willow on the floor. World then sends Willow back in the ring.
World is up on the top and comes down, but Willow ducks. Willow then hits a pounce on World. World then escapes an octopus hold and hits a Scissor Kick. World then hits a running dropkick for a very close two count. A headscissor then sends Willow into the ropes and World follows it up with a Tiger Feint Kick. Willow then responds with a big spinebuster and takes to the skies herself with a dropkick off the rope. Cannonball Run in the corner then hits, but World kicks out. Willow then goes for a Vader Bomb, but World stops her. She then follows it up with a springboard sunset bomb for a near fall. World then hits a bridging fallaway suplex for a near fall.
Willow then bounces off the ropes after kicking out, taking World down with a discus lariat. Both women then trade pinfalls and World nearly gets it with a small package. Willow then manages to get World with a backslide pin for the win.

After the match, Willow celebrates her win as Tony Schiavone runs down the current lineup for Dynamite on Wednesday and the show comes to a close.
