Lil Yachty hasn’t just been showing up at WWE events and hoping for the best. The rapper has apparently been putting in months of work behind the scenes, and now we know who has been helping prepare him for his first match.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer revealed that Yachty has been training with WWE Superstar Ivy Nile and her husband for several months.
“Lil’ Yachty has been training for months with Ivy Nile and her husband.”
That gives some more context to Yachty’s upcoming in-ring debut against Baron Corbin at Sunday Night’s Main Event. His involvement with WWE has drawn plenty of criticism from fans, but this isn’t a case of Yachty walking into the Performance Center a few days before the match and calling it good.
It was previously reported that Yachty has earned respect from people inside WWE and throughout the wrestling business because of how seriously he has approached the opportunity. It was also stated that Yachty has been working at the WWE Performance Center and that the company plans to keep him involved beyond his upcoming match.
Yachty will have more than his own pride on the line when he faces Corbin. If he survives five minutes against the United States Champion, Trick Williams will receive another shot at the title. If Corbin puts Yachty away before the five-minute mark, Trick loses his opportunity.
Fans can argue all they want about whether Yachty should be getting this kind of WWE spotlight, but the preparation behind the match is becoming clearer. He has been training for months, with Ivy Nile and her husband among the people helping him get ready before he finally steps into a WWE ring.
