Lil Yachty is stepping into the ring with Baron Corbin at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event, and Trick Williams’ United States Championship hopes are riding on whether the rapper can survive five minutes.
The match was set up during the August 21 episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Toronto after Williams came to the ring alongside Yachty and demanded another shot at Corbin’s United States Championship.
Corbin arrived on a motorcycle and shut Williams down, pointing out that Trick already lost the championship and then failed to win it back in his rematch. Corbin made it clear that he didn’t see any reason to give Williams another opportunity.
That’s when things got physical. Yachty grabbed a Singapore cane and attacked Corbin, forcing the United States Champion out of the ring. Corbin then changed his tune and offered Williams another path to a title shot, but it comes with a pretty wild catch. Corbin will face Lil Yachty at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Yachty’s hometown, and the rapper only needs to survive five minutes with him.
If Yachty makes it through the full five minutes, Williams earns another United States Championship match against Corbin. If Corbin defeats Yachty before time expires, Williams loses his chance and Corbin considers their business finished.
Yachty thought about the challenge before accepting it, officially putting himself between Corbin and another Trick Williams title opportunity. Corbin then warned that those five minutes are going to feel like the longest five minutes of Yachty’s life before leaving the ring.
That gives Sunday Night’s Main Event a celebrity match with something bigger attached to it. Yachty doesn’t need to beat Corbin to get the job done. He just has to last five minutes against the United States Champion and Trick Williams gets another shot at the title.
The first-ever WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Corbin vs. Yachty now joins a card that already has two major singles matches announced.

- Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker
- Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty — Yachty must survive five minutes for Trick Williams to earn another United States Championship match
