Jeff Hardy may be ready to swap some ring time for stage time, because the Charismatic Enigma sounds more fired up than ever about his music career.
While speaking to Ropes N Riffs, Hardy revealed that his band Peroxwhy?gen has some big shows lined up, including Louder Than Life in September and the Jericho Cruise in November. And from the sound of it, Jeff is nervous, excited, and ready to go full lunatic on stage.
“I got a full band show actually tomorrow, so I’m nervous and kind of not terrified, but just very nervous, cuz full band stuff is a lot more… I’m more comfortable doing the acoustic stuff, I think, because it’s softer, more intimate, but the heavy heavy stuff, man, it takes a lot of energy. But I’ve been doing a few shows and the reason I’m getting back together with my band, Peroxwhy?gen, is we’re going to be going to this big deal in September. It’s called Louder Than Life. It’s a festival where we have a 30-minute set. So, yeah, and there’s so many big names on that card. I’m definitely terrified of that, but I’m so grateful for the opportunity. I’m just going to go out there and sing like a lunatic and hope for the best.”
That is a huge spot for Jeff Hardy’s band, and he’s not stopping there. Jeff Hardy also confirmed Peroxwhy?gen will perform on the Jericho Cruise, with Matt Hardy also now part of the trip.
“Then in November Matt just jumped on as well, but my band is going to be on the Jericho Cruise for the first time, and Matt’s actually will be there. So, the Hardy Boyz are going to be on the Jericho Cruise this year, and Jeff Hardy’s band, Peroxwhy?gen, is going to be performing, so stoked about that.”
Then Jeff dropped the real kicker. Music isn’t just a side hobby right now. It may actually start taking up more of his time than wrestling before the year is over, as he admitted he might be wrestling less by the end of this year.
“Music is just amazing, man. I’m so pumped for what the future holds for me as I continue to get these opportunities in music. So the way I feel now is like by the end of the year, I think I might be wrestling less and singing more. So very pumped about that.”
That line hits a little harder because Jeff has also been dealing with a neck issue. During a recent Battleground Podcast appearance, Matt Hardy praised Jeff’s sobriety, his personal growth, and the way he has handled a couple of bulging discs in his neck. Jeff admitted he is improving, but he is still not 100%. He also said the injury has made him more cautious in the ring, with Matt taking on more of the physical workload while Jeff tries to heal up.
Jeff Hardy isn’t saying goodbye to wrestling, but he is making it clear that music is becoming a bigger part of his future. And if Peroxwhy?gen keeps landing major gigs, fans might be seeing Jeff with a microphone in his hand a lot more than they see him climbing ladders.
