AJ Styles will be at the WWE NXT Heatwave and AAA doubleheader in Texas on August 30, but he isn’t expected to appear on camera. The former WWE Champion will instead be working behind the scenes during the massive two-show event.
PWInsider noted that Styles has been producing matches while Terry Taylor recovers from knee surgery. That role will bring Styles to Texas for both NXT Heatwave and AAA’s event.
Styles’ presence will naturally fuel speculation about a surprise appearance, especially with WWE stacking both shows into the same day. However, the expectation right now is that he will remain backstage and focus on his producing duties.
That kills the idea of Styles being booked for a television segment, but having someone with his experience helping talent backstage is still a big deal. WWE is putting Styles’ decades of knowledge to work while Taylor remains sidelined.
