Jeff Hardy is still fighting through a neck issue, and he isn’t pretending everything is fine.
While speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Matt and Jeff Hardy were asked what they are most proud of when they look at each other now. Matt used the moment to praise Jeff’s personal journey, his sobriety, and how he has handled himself in and out of the ring.
“I I was just going to say, I mean, when I when I look at Jeff, I’m just so uh proud of his journey, you know, just with everything he’s done with his sobriety, and I know he takes so much pride in it. like uh he’s just done such a great job at being in an amazing place in his personal life and and also being in an amazing place in his professional life as far as pro wrestling goes and even he’s been dealing with a neck injury, you know, where he had a couple bulging disc in his neck and he’s just he’s worked through that.”
Matt said Jeff has been smart while dealing with the injury, and that he is proud of the place his brother is in today.
“He’s been he’s been very smart with doing it and I just I really think he’s got everything together. He really he really has uh he’s really got everything together and he’s uh he’s living his best life and it it makes me very proud of him.”
Jeff then gave his own update, admitting he is improving but still not close to 100%. He said the neck problem has been wearing on him, but it also gave him an idea for a new submission move.
“Yeah, I’m slowly uh improving. I’m I’m I’m still quite a ways from 100%, but the neck has been such a nagging energy. But an actual submission hold called the final uh spinal destination uh has came from this neck injury. I was like, man, it’d be so cool to have a submission. I’ve never had a submission. So now I I got one of those because of this neck injury.”
Jeff also admitted the injury has made him more cautious in the ring. He said Matt has been taking more of the physical load while Jeff tries to heal up before Slammiversary on June 28.
“Naturally, I’m kind of scared to do certain things. Uh but yeah, Matt’s been doing a lot of the work for me, so I’m very grateful for that. Uh so I I can just do as less as possible. uh where I can heal and to hopefully be 100% by the by the 28th of of June come slamversary time. But I’m I’m very grateful for Matt taking the heat from time to time and and doing doing a more bumping than me.”
That puts a different kind of spotlight on the Hardys’ upcoming Slammiversary ladder match. Jeff Hardy and ladder matches go hand in hand, but this time he is heading into it while still trying to get his neck right.
Jeff has made a career out of throwing his body into danger, but even he is being honest about the reality now. He wants to be ready for Slammiversary, and Matt is clearly helping carry the load until Jeff gets closer to full strength.
