The signs surrounding Bayley’s WWE future just keep piling up, as people in the company believe she might’ve wrestled her final match at the World’s Most Famous Arena.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was backstage talk before Saturday Night’s Main Event that Bayley’s match against Lyra Valkyria could be her last appearance at Madison Square Garden.
Bayley’s loss to Lyra Valkyria didn’t feel like a normal defeat. Lyra beat her clean, then drove her into the steel steps with a Nightwing and left her lying at ringside. Two days later on Raw, Lyra twisted the knife even further, telling the crowd she had “run Bayley out of here.”
That ending immediately caught the attention of Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, with Alvarez saying the entire segment looked like WWE was closing the book on Bayley.
“I think she’s either gone, or they want you to think she’s gone. Lyra beat her, and then she destroyed her afterward. She gave her the Nightwing on the steps, and she left her for dead. It really was like a blow-off, like that’s the end of Bayley. We’ll see.”
Even Meltzer admitted the angle didn’t come across like the start of a long feud: “The thing is, the feud just started. You could say it’s a way to keep the feud going, but it really didn’t feel that way to me.”
Then came another surprise. Bayley quietly disappeared from WWE’s advertised SummerSlam Prospect Tryout VIP Experience, with Ivy Nile replacing her on the official listing. WWE hasn’t explained the switch, and Bayley remains absent from the updated promotional material.
With Bayley’s contract believed to be winding down, it won’t take long to find out whether all of these clues were leading somewhere—or whether WWE has managed to convince everyone of something that isn’t actually happening.
