CM Punk was released from WWE a long time ago, so his recent AEW firing is not the first time he was sent his walking papers from a pro wrestling company. Now, he is onto his next steps, and some are thinking that he could be WWE bound. That is not what a lot of people want to hear.

CM Punk’s AEW firing hit the pro wrestling world in a huge way, and many had their own opinion on the matter. Some WWE Superstars were very invested in the story, because it could go on to effect them.

PW Insider noted that CM Punk’s AEW firing was an immediate subject of conversation backstage in WWE. A number of top Superstars also made it very clear that they don’t want to see CM Punk back in the company.

PWInsiderElite.com can confirm that within minutes of the announcement that Punk was terminated “with cause” by AEW President Tony Khan, he was an immediate topic of discussion within WWE, especially top talents. There were some who were adamantly against the idea and didn’t believe it could happen but others who looked at it as a “chance to make big money.” We know of one top tier star who was all for it, but it wouldn’t be their call.

CM Punk’s return to WWE isn’t likely. We exclusively reported that the belief is within WWE that CM Punk wants fans to think WWE is an option. In reality, he’s incredibly far away from that ever becoming a reality we all live in.

WWE actually sent word to FOX that CM Punk needed to be controlled on the WWE Backstage show. This was after he tried really hard to go into business for himself and start his own angles a couple of times.

We will have to see what’s next for CM Punk, but he certainly caused a lot of noise on his way out of AEW. We are all expecting some sort of shoot interview from the Second City Savior as well.
