CM Punk is no longer with AEW, and that opened up a lot of rumors about his possible WWE return. As we exclusively reported, CM Punk already made “desperate attempts” at a WWE return while he was an analyst on WWE Backstage, and that gig was full of issues.

The fact that CM Punk disrespected William Regal in AEW because he was a Triple H “stooge” also won’t win him any brownie points with the company. That being said, CM Punk’s last gig that was WWE adjacent didn’t turn out too well on their “WWE Backstage” FS1 show.

Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the creative team that, “When [CM Punk] started causing problems on the [WWE Backstage] show with his comments, he was scaled back.”

That apparently didn’t fix CM Punk’s problem with WWE Backstage. We were additionally told that, “When he went further, WWE said ‘no more’ or told Fox ‘he needs to be controlled.’ This should explain why CM Punk was such a rare guest on the show toward the end of its run on FS1.
