Jon Moxley walked out of Forbidden Door as the new interim AEW World Champion. Mox defeated the legendary Hiroshi Tanahashi to capture the title before all hell broke lose in brawl to promote Wednesday night’s Blood & Guts match on Dynamite. After the show, Moxley noted that he may have suffered an injury.

With a laundry list of AEW stars already on the injured list, the last thing Tony Khan needs is for one of the main talents in a signature match to be on the shelf. With just days before Jon Moxley is scheduled to compete in the double ring double cage war, he noted that he may have suffered a head injury. Of course, nothing has been confirmed and he may have been selling after his bout with Tanahashi.

On the Wrestling Observer Radio after Forbidden Door, Dave Meltzer discussed Moxley’s situation. The new champion was covered in blood as he bled profusely during his title match. Mox said he may have suffered a concussion.

“Moxley mentioned in a post-match interview, you know, he was covered with blood, and he said he might have been concussed, too, which, hopefully, that’s not the case, because that’s the last thing they need is another concussion especially leading into Wednesday’s Blood and Guts because Moxley’s obviously a key part of that match.”

Adam Cole also suffered an apparent injury during his IWGP title match at Forbidden Door. CM Punk’s injury is the reason there is an interim champion in the first place. Jungle Boy and others have also been sidelined after getting hurt.

Hopefully, Jon Moxley is just selling from his matchup against Hiroshi Tanahashi. If he is injured legitimately, it would put a great deal of strain on one of the most hyped television matches of the year. Fans will have to tune in Wednesday to see if Mox is ready to compete.
