CM Punk was originally supposed to wrestle in the main event of Forbidden Door. Unfortunately, Punk suffered foot injury that led to him missing weekly shows and PPV events for the foreseeable future. It turned out to be quite a show for Moxley after all.

Not wanting to run shows without a champion, Tony Khan announced that the promotion will crown an interim champion at Forbidden Door on June 26th. That man turned out to be Jon Moxley.

The match main evented Forbidden Door and was a solid display of in-ring prowess between two of the best in the business. Mox won the match after hitting a Death Rider on Tanahashi. The Ace still put up an incredible fight.

Fans in attendance and at home watching also saw the crowning of the first-ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion after PAC defeated Miro, Malakai Black and Clark Connors earlier during the night.

Moreover, ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR added the IWGP World Tag Team Championship to their collection by defeating Jeff Cobb and Great-o-Khan and Roppongi Vice in a triple threat match.
