Daniel Garcia’s phone-smacking mess at AEW Redemption may have just cost him some serious money. The first fan involved has contacted Ringside News and claims AEW fined Garcia $10,000 after reviewing what happened inside Montreal’s Bell Centre.
The fan reached out to Ringside News through our news tip form and identified himself as the man heard yelling after Garcia appeared to knock his phone to the floor.
According to the fan, AEW first contacted him through a direct message and then followed up with a phone call. He claims the company told him Garcia had been fined and offered him tickets to the next AEW show in his area.
“Hi, I am the individual who yelled at Daniel Garcia for hitting my phone, the first guy. I got a DM followed by a phone call from AEW today, and they have fined him $10,000, as well as offered me tickets to the next show in my area.”
Ringside News has not independently confirmed the fine with AEW, and the company has not publicly announced any punishment for Garcia.
The incident happened while Garcia and the Death Riders were leaving through the crowd following their match at AEW Redemption. Newly surfaced footage showed Garcia climbing over the barricade before appearing to smack the first fan’s phone out of his hand. The phone hit the floor as the fan repeatedly yelled at Garcia.
“Don’t touch my phone! Don’t touch my phone!”
Garcia continued through the crowd and then appeared to knock phones away from two more fans during the same exit. One of those incidents led to a heated face-to-face exchange, while another phone fell into the area below a balcony before Jon Moxley picked it up and returned it.
The additional footage showed that this was not one quick argument with a fan. Garcia appeared to make contact with three separate phones before leaving the building.
What do you think of AEW’s alleged punishment for Daniel Garcia, and is a $10,000 fine enough after three separate phone incidents? Leave your feedback in the comments.
