AEW Dynamite featured rather awkward moment when a fan could be heard yelling a homophobic slur towards Anthony Bowens. While the AEW star was competing in an in an eight man tag team match, the comment has little to no effect on his performance.

Bowens was competing alongside teammate Max Caster and 2Point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) . The tag teams faced off The Varsity Blondes (Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison) and The Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus).

Anthony Bowens definitely didn’t show it, but he took to Twitter in order to react to the comments. Bowens is openly gay, and responded to the comments by criticizing the stigma that still exists.

This is why I posted that photo the other day. Stuff like this unfortunately still exists. Not phased, I’ll just keep fighting against stuff like this til the day I die.

The picture addressed in the tweet refers to a photo that Bowens posted on Twitter alongside his partner. Bowens has been dating boyfriend Michael Pavano for several years, and the picture showed them kissing each other in front of many anti-LGBTQ+ protestors.

Anthony Bowens and Michael Pavano also have a show together, named Michael & Anthony Show. Being a YouTube show, the two collectively hold more than 200K subscribers on the show.
