WWE may already be quietly laying the groundwork for WrestleMania 2029, and the company has a massive venue hold sitting on the calendar that stretches for more than a month. Nothing has been announced yet, but this is the kind of move that usually gets people paying attention.

According to Fightful Select, there is currently a hold on the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans beginning March 12, 2029 and running through April 21, 2029. One source who has worked WWE events in the city said the hold was put in place in connection with WWE.

That does not mean WWE is planning to live inside the Superdome for six weeks. Major stadium shows can require a lengthy load-in, and a two-week setup window would not be unusual for something the size of WrestleMania. The wider hold gives WWE plenty of room to narrow down an exact weekend without having another event slide into the building.

Right now, though, there is no official date and no WrestleMania announcement. That part matters because New Orleans has already been burned once. WrestleMania 42 had originally been lined up for the city before WWE pulled the plug and moved the event to Las Vegas, leaving New Orleans still waiting on another shot at hosting WWE’s biggest show of the year.

The city has history with WrestleMania too. New Orleans previously hosted WrestleMania 30 and WrestleMania 34, so WWE going back there would hardly be some random choice.

There is also another wrinkle here because WWE already owes Indianapolis a future WrestleMania date as part of its agreement with the city. That means there are still a few moving pieces when it comes to how WWE maps out the next several years of stadium shows.

And if anyone thinks a venue hold means this thing is locked, New Orleans itself is proof that nothing is safe until WWE says so. The company has changed major event plans before, and even Money in the Bank got moved from September to October this year.

WWE was asked directly about the 2029 hold, and the company is not ready to put its name on anything yet. A spokesperson said there is nothing final or ready to announce.

Still, WWE holding the Superdome for a six-week stretch right in WrestleMania season is not exactly subtle. After missing out on WrestleMania 42, New Orleans may finally be getting another crack at the biggest weekend WWE has.

Do you think WWE should go back to New Orleans for WrestleMania 2029, or should another city get the spot? Let us know your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
