The Varsity Blondes are one of many trios and stables in AEW. There was apparently some pushback when they were getting that act together, but AEW gave them a shot and saw that it was ultimately a success.

Fightful Select caught up with Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr. in Jacksonville where they caught some information about AEW creative. It was revealed that they didn’t like the idea of placing Julia Hart with them at first, but they gave it a try.

There were a couple of people in AEW who didn’t like the idea of Julia Hart with Varsity Blondes, but didn’t go out of there way to try to stomp it out when he pitched it.

Instead of squashing the idea, AEW gave the trio a try and they kept with it. It was also reported that the name Varsity Blondes received saw some people saying that they “didn’t think it fit,” but “they went with it as opposed to shooting it down.

It was not noted who in AEW didn’t like the idea of the Varsity Blondes’ name and the fact that they are a trio. Ultimately, it is all Tony Khan’s call, so he obviously liked it enough to put them on television.
