The Prince hasn’t competed since successfully defeating Kyle O’Reilly in the match that ended with two breaks in his jaw. That was an injury which required surgery. Kyle O’Reilly could get another crack at that NXT Title, and Balor’s jaw.

William Regal announced that Kyle O’Reilly will take on Pete Dunne for the #1 contender spot next week on NXT. The winner will face Finn Balor at NXT’s New Year’s Evil on January 6th.

New Year’s Evil has no set matches yet, and Balor’s title defense will likely be the main event of the show. They will have competition from AEW as Tony Khan’s company is bringing the second night of New Year’s Smash where Snoop Dogg will be on commentary.
