It looks like WWE has settled on what’s expected to close this year’s Money in the Bank premium live event. While there was some discussion about ending the night with one of the ladder matches, that doesn’t appear to be the direction the company is going.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the current plan is for Roman Reigns to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight in the night’s final match.

“Speaking of WWE Money in the Bank, a source tells WrestleVotes on Fightful Select that the main event of Money in the Bank PLE is L.A. Knight challenging Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.”

The report notes that WWE did at least consider a different option while putting together the final card. According to the source, there was a brief discussion about having the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match go on last instead.

“We’re told a brief conversation took place while the final card was being constructed that would have seen the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match close the show…”

As things currently stand, however, that idea has been shelved in favor of the World Heavyweight Championship match: “…but a source states that as of now, the main event is penciled in to be Knight versus Reigns.”

Of course, WWE has been known to make last-minute changes before premium live events, so nothing is guaranteed until the show begins. But if the current plan holds, Roman Reigns and LA Knight will be the two stars closing out Money in the Bank.
