Zelina Vega’s next wrestling chapter may already have a name.
As the former WWE star inches closer to free agency, she has filed a trademark for what appears to be a brand-new ring name, “Xelina,” showing that she’s already laying the groundwork for life after WWE.
According to the filing submitted on July 20, the trademark covers professional wrestling performances, sports entertainment services, wrestling news and information, online content, social media videos and other entertainment-related activities. While Vega has yet to publicly address the filing, the application strongly suggests she’s preparing to compete under a new identity once she’s free to wrestle again.
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing sports information in the field of wrestling; Providing a website featuring entertainment information in the fields of sports; Providing entertainment information in the field of sports via online community portal; Event management services being organizing and conducting special events for social entertainment purposes; Providing on-line newsletters in the field of sports entertainment; Providing online, non-downloadable, short-form videos in the field of sports entertainment via social media websites.”
The filing is the clearest sign yet that Vega has been planning her next move for months—not weeks. Shortly after WWE released her as part of its post-WrestleMania roster cuts, we had reported that Vega had already landed a mystery feature film role.
Around that same time, Vega also let promoters know she was officially open for business, posting her booking information on social media as she prepared for the next stage of her career.
“🚨🚨 For bookings: kat@blxckmass.com.”
Whether “Xelina” ultimately becomes her new in-ring name remains to be seen, but the timing of the filing makes it hard to ignore. With free agency approaching, an acting role already lined up and independent bookings underway, Vega doesn’t appear to be waiting for opportunities to come to her—she’s creating them herself.
