While most of the attention surrounding WWE’s recent cuts has been on released talent and longtime employees saying goodbye, another important name quietly disappeared from the company—and hardly anyone noticed until now.
According to PWInsider, Patrick Dooley, WWE’s Senior Vice President of Global Strategy & Corporate Development, quietly exited the company in late July. A WWE executive familiar with the situation told the outlet Dooley left around the same time as several other budget-related departures, but his exit never became public.
If fans don’t recognize the name, they almost certainly recognize the work. Dooley was considered Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s top lieutenant on the business side of WWE, handling many of the company’s biggest projects outside of creative. After joining WWE in 2018 as Director of Global Strategy, he climbed the ranks while helping oversee major initiatives, including WWE’s acquisition of AAA, expanding AAA onto FOX Latin America and bringing NXT back to Full Sail University.
His departure also changes the conversation around WWE’s recent cuts. Until now, much of the focus had been on talent releases and longtime production executive Gavin O’Shea confirming the end of his 25-year run with the company. Dooley’s exit shows the changes weren’t limited to wrestlers or production staff—they also reached deep into WWE’s executive offices.
Unlike O’Shea, who publicly reflected on leaving WWE after a quarter-century, Dooley exited quietly. There was no farewell message, no announcement and no public acknowledgment—just one of the company’s key executives gone after helping shape some of WWE’s biggest business moves over the last eight years.
For a company in the middle of major expansion through acquisitions and international partnerships, losing one of the executives most closely tied to those deals is a significant behind-the-scenes development, even if it happened without much attention.
