WWE’s recent wave of cuts is still unfolding, and now the fallout has extended beyond the roster, with a longtime behind-the-scenes figure confirming his exit.
Following the April 24, 2026 releases that saw multiple WWE stars let go, longtime employee Gavin O’Shea has now confirmed he’s no longer with the company after an incredible 25-year run.
O’Shea, who most recently worked as Director of TV Production since 2020, shared the news through a detailed and personal statement on LinkedIn, offering a rare look into the emotional toll of these behind-the-scenes changes. Opening his message, O’Shea made it clear that this wasn’t a departure he saw coming, especially after dedicating such a significant portion of his life to WWE’s production side.
"After 25 years, losing my job wasn’t part of the plan. For those memorable 25 years at WWE, I’ve seen, heard and experienced it all. After all, I grew up there, made friends and learned by doing."
He then went deeper into how closely his identity had become tied to his role in the company, explaining that the sudden shift left him feeling uncertain and vulnerable in a way many longtime professionals can relate to.
"Like many people, I tied a piece of my identity to what I do every day. So when that suddenly changed, it felt unsettling, humbling… and honestly, a little scary."
Rather than staying focused on the loss, O’Shea used the moment to reflect on what he’s learning through the experience, outlining a mindset shift that’s helping him process the situation and look ahead.
"But here’s what I’m learning in real time:
• Your job is something you do — not who you are
• Setbacks can create space for better opportunities
• Resilience isn’t a buzzword — it’s a skill you build through moments like this."
He also made sure to acknowledge the relationships and experiences that defined his time in WWE, while showing that he’s now ready to move forward and explore what comes next in his career.
"I’m taking this time to reflect, reset, and refocus on what I truly want in my next chapter. I’m incredibly grateful for the people I’ve worked with, the lessons I’ve learned, and the support I’ve already received."
Finally, O’Shea ended his message by opening the door to new opportunities and connections, making it clear that while one chapter has closed, he’s actively looking toward the next.
"If you know of opportunities or just want to connect, I’d love to hear from you.
Onward."
This adds to the fallout from WWE’s recent cuts. While earlier reports — including insights from Dave Meltzer — pointed to Triple H as a central figure in roster decisions, O’Shea’s departure shows how those decisions are also impacting long-tenured staff behind the scenes. With someone who spent 25 years helping shape WWE’s TV product now gone, the scale of these changes is getting harder to ignore.
