While fans continue debating WWE’s decision to run Worlds Collide opposite AEW All Out, it doesn’t sound like the people backstage are treating it as a huge deal. According to a new report, the general feeling among WWE talent is pretty simple: it’s just business.
Speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed what he’s been hearing after talking to several WWE talents about the Worlds Collide vs. All Out scheduling. According to Self Made Pro, the wrestlers he spoke with weren’t overanalyzing the situation or viewing it as some major company war. Instead, they largely accepted it as part of how the wrestling business works today.
“I mean, it’s like the vibe from like the three talents that I’ve spoken to specifically about like just what’s happening with this whole thing is just kind of like, ‘This is the business.’ This is what’s—you know, just how shit goes right now. Like people just kind of know the game and they don’t like think anything of it beyond that. You know, people aren’t huddling up like, ‘Oh man, what does this mean for like the big picture of wrestling?’ They just kind of go, ‘Yeah, I mean, you know, it is what it is.'”
That backstage attitude is a lot more relaxed than the reaction from some outside the company. Earlier this month, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross criticized the decision to run Worlds Collide in the Chicago area on the same day as AEW All Out, saying he believed the scheduling was deliberate rather than a coincidence.
Ross argued that if the goal had simply been to draw a big crowd and put on a great show, he would’ve supported it. Instead, he said he believed there were “too many coincidences” surrounding the timing and location.
Bottom line: Whether fans agree with Ross or not, it doesn’t sound like WWE talent is spending much time worrying about the scheduling battle. From their perspective, it’s simply another part of doing business in today’s wrestling landscape.
