WWE Night of Champions is officially sold out, even as WWE continues monitoring the situation in the Middle East ahead of the June 27 premium live event in Riyadh at the Kingdom Arena.
Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, took to Twitter and confirmed that the upcoming WWE Night of Champions event has completely sold out. Alalshikh shared the news directly and made it clear that the show is moving forward as a major event on Saudi Arabia’s entertainment calendar.
“WWE Night of Champions is officially sold out, See you on June 27 😎❤️”
The sellout comes after WWE President Nick Khan addressed the situation during a TKO town hall meeting. Khan told staff that WWE is keeping a close eye on developments in the Middle East before making final travel decisions for the Riyadh event. Khan made it clear that WWE will only make the trip if the company feels it is safe to do so: “We’re only going if it’s safe or if we’re allowed there.”
Khan also explained that WWE is working with internal security officials and outside government contacts while reviewing whether U.S. citizens can safely travel to Saudi Arabia for the show.
“We are monitoring with our heads of security internally and with our government affairs folks externally, the situation there. If U.S. citizens are allowed in at this moment in time, it is declared and deemed safe, we’ll all be going there.”
Another major detail from Khan was WWE’s scheduling plan around the event. Unlike some past Saudi shows, WWE currently intends to run only Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia rather than adding surrounding episodes of Monday Night RAW or SmackDown in the region. Khan also said Saudi Arabia remains eager to host WWE again, especially as the country continues bringing in major American entertainment properties.
“Saudi is deeply desirous of getting WWE back there and getting events restarted, especially those that come from the United States.”
That makes the sellout announcement especially notable. WWE is still reviewing the safety situation, but Saudi officials are already promoting Night of Champions as a full-capacity event weeks before the June 27 show.
WWE has built a major international schedule in recent years, and Saudi Arabia remains one of the company’s most important overseas markets. However, the company’s final decision on travel will still depend on whether the region is considered safe closer to the event. For now, WWE Night of Champions has officially sold out in Riyadh, giving WWE a major business win while the company continues watching the situation in the Middle East.
What do you think about WWE Night of Champions selling out in Saudi Arabia while safety concerns are still being monitored? Should WWE move forward with the event as planned? Let us know your thoughts and leave your feedback in the comments.
