Nick Khan made it clear to staff that WWE is keeping a close eye on the situation in the Middle East ahead of the scheduled WWE Night of Champions set for June 27 in Riyadh.

During a TKO town hall meeting via POST Wrestling, Khan addressed growing concerns about safety in the region and explained that WWE leadership is actively monitoring developments before making final decisions about travel. He confirmed that the company will only move forward if conditions are considered safe.

“We’re only going if it’s safe or if we’re allowed there.”

Khan went on to explain that WWE is coordinating closely with internal security teams and outside government contacts to stay informed as the situation evolves. He emphasized that the ability for U.S. citizens to travel safely would be a key factor in determining whether the event moves forward as planned.

“We are monitoring with our heads of security internally and with our government affairs folks externally, the situation there. If U.S. citizens are allowed in at this moment in time, it is declared and deemed safe, we’ll all be going there.”

Another notable change involves WWE’s scheduling plans around the premium live event. Khan confirmed that WWE currently intends to run only Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia rather than holding surrounding episodes of WWE Raw or WWE SmackDown in the region — something that has been done around past Saudi shows.

Khan also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s continued interest in hosting WWE events, noting that there is strong demand for American-based entertainment properties to return.

“Saudi is deeply desirous of getting WWE back there and getting events restarted, especially those that come from the United States.”

With geopolitical tensions still shifting, WWE’s Saudi Arabia plans remain under review. While the company is still moving forward with Night of Champions for now, the final call will depend on whether conditions are deemed safe in the weeks leading up to the event.

WWE has continued expanding its international footprint in recent years, but situations like this highlight how outside factors can quickly impact even the biggest planned events.
