Vince Russo’s run with Juggalo Championship Wrestling is officially over. After weeks of refusing to say whether he was staying or leaving, Russo revealed on September 22, 2026 that he and Violent J have agreed to part ways — and admitted he had been unhappy in JCW for a while.
Russo had previously addressed growing speculation about his JCW status without giving fans a definitive answer. At the time, he explained that the situation was still in limbo and that he needed to reevaluate things after spending roughly a year with the promotion.
That uncertainty is gone now. Russo took to X and told his supporters that the reason he had stayed quiet was pretty simple: he genuinely didn’t know what he wanted to do yet.
“To my BELOVED Supporters, Over the past few weeks I have received many e-mails, dms and text messages concerning my status with @jcwlunacy. For those of you who know me, you know I don’t hide from the truth, I don’t avoid the truth and I certainly don’t lie about the truth. The reason for my silence was that . . . I just didn’t know. I just needed some time.”
Then came the part Russo hadn’t publicly said this clearly before. He admitted he had been unhappy with his situation in JCW and knew something needed to change.
“I’d been unhappy for a while in @jcwlunacy and I’m not going to deny that. Something had to change. Without getting into specifics, there were a lot of reasons with the biggest one being that at 65 . . . I’m not the same guy I was 30 years ago. Things have changed, life has changed and more importantly . . . I’ve changed.”
Russo then confirmed that he recently spoke directly with Violent J and the two agreed it was time to end the relationship.
“A short while ago I had a phone conversation with Violent J and we have amicably agreed to part ways.”
Despite the split, Russo didn’t trash JCW on his way out. Instead, he looked back on the fact that what was originally supposed to be a short-term arrangement somehow turned into a full year.
“Hey man, it was supposed to be for a few weeks, maybe a couple of months, but we KILLED IT for an entire year. So now . . . it’s time to move on. What the future holds . . . we shall see.”
Russo also made sure to thank Violent J, the JCW locker room and the crew behind the promotion. Whatever frustrations led to his departure, he made it clear he wasn’t leaving with a flamethrower pointed behind him.
“I’d like to thank Violent J—one of the kindest, gentlest, most creative souls I have ever met in my life, the @jcwlunacy locker room—who treated me with the utmost respect, and the entire crew who worked their ARSES off every day.”
“Yeah, it was a wild ride . . . but, now . . . maybe I can finally take that nap. God Bless, Vince.”
So after weeks of questions, there’s finally an answer. Russo is done with JCW, the split with Violent J was amicable, and he isn’t hiding the fact that he had reached a point where he simply wasn’t happy anymore. What comes next is still a mystery, but Russo has officially closed the door on this chapter.
