Baron Corbin didn’t have to wait long to hear from Trick Williams.

Less than a week after Corbin blindsided Trick and Carmelo Hayes during SmackDown, the United States Champion finally broke his silence—and he kicked things off with a shot that had nothing to do with wrestling. Speaking during WWE Now at Fanatics Fest, Trick Williams joked that he already knows why Corbin decided to make his return by targeting him.

“Last week, Baron Corbin came in and jumped on myself and Carmelo Hayes. I think I know why he did it. It wasn’t because he wants to beat Trick Williams. He was mad because my title had more hair than he does!”

After getting the joke out of the way, Trick made it clear he isn’t looking at Corbin as some returning veteran who’s automatically earned another run at the top. Instead, he said WWE has entered a new era—one led by stars like himself, Oba Femi and Je’Von Evans.

“Baron Corbin, a former football player himself, and we ran into each other a few times in NXT, but now it’s a whole new era. It’s myself, Oba Femi, Je’Von Evans—we’re hungry. We want that top spot.”

Williams also acknowledged everything Corbin accomplished during his first run in WWE, but made it clear he believes those days are in the past.

“Corbin had his spot. He had his title runs. He beat some of the biggest names in this game today.”

Then came the warning. According to Trick, Corbin isn’t stepping back into the same WWE he left behind—and he’s about to find out exactly what that means.

“Today is 2026, and it’s the Whoop That Trick Era, and Corbin is gonna see a whole new level of superstar he’s never seen before.”

The comments come just days after Corbin made his surprise return on SmackDown, interrupting Trick’s United States Championship match against Carmelo Hayes before planting both men with End of Days.

Corbin has already been advertised for a United States Championship Fatal 4-Way against Trick Williams, Carmelo Hayes and Ricky Saints at WWE’s July 26 Summer Tour live event, making it clear that his sights are set on championship gold.

Whether that title match happens exactly as advertised remains to be seen, but one thing is already certain: Trick Williams isn’t intimidated by Corbin’s return. In fact, he’s welcoming the challenge—and promising that the returning veteran is about to find out why WWE now belongs to a new generation.

Do you think Baron Corbin’s return should end with a United States Championship win, or should Trick Williams continue his reign? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
