Sunil Singh finally has the news he’s been waiting more than two months to hear. After suffering a collapsed lung during a wrestling match and dealing with plenty of uncertainty about his future, the former WWE star has officially been medically cleared.
Singh took to Twitter on November 3 and revealed that his trauma doctor gave him the “big thumbs up” after roughly two and a half months of recovery from the pneumothorax injury.
“It’s a big thumbs up. 👍🏽 I’m happy to report I officially got cleared by my trauma Doctor today from my pneumothorax injury. Thank you to everyone, both far and near, that has reached out with well wishes, prayers and positive vibes.”
It’s been a pretty scary road getting here. Singh admitted there were plenty of unknowns during the last few months, but credited keeping a positive mindset and his faith while working through the recovery process.
“It’s been a strange 2.5 months with some uncertainties, however, anything is possible when you keep a positive mindset & keep the faith. ‘Conquer your mind. Conquer the world.’”
And now that the medical hurdle is finally behind him, Singh already has wrestling on his mind. After 22 years in the business, he made it clear he isn’t looking at this injury as a reason to walk away.
“I’m looking forward to getting back into the ring and continuing this wrestling journey. I wear all my injuries like a badge of honor over the last 22 years.”
Singh also made it pretty clear that The Bollywood Boyz aren’t finished yet. He says there are still plenty of things he wants to accomplish, and now he’s ready to start hitting the road again.
“A lot of dreams, goals are left to accomplish. I hope you all continue to cheer on ‘The Bollywood Boyz.’ This highway man is ready to make towns.”
The clearance is a huge turnaround from where Singh found himself when the injury first happened. He previously revealed that his right lung collapsed during a match, leaving him struggling to breathe and eventually unable to stand once he made it backstage. At the time, things got scary enough that Singh’s thoughts immediately went to his son and whether he would ever get to share their hockey routine again.
“I didn’t want to die and the only thing I could think of at the time was ‘How will I take my son to hockey and get onto the ice with him?’”
There had been encouraging signs along the way, with Singh previously revealing that X-rays showed his lung was healing. Now he’s gone from wondering when he might fully recover to actually having the medical clearance he needs to start thinking seriously about wrestling again. And the timing couldn’t have been much better for Singh personally. With Diwali week beginning, he called getting cleared the perfect way to kick things off.
“I couldn’t ask for a better way to start Diwali week than this news. 🙏🏽💪🏽”
After two and a half months of uncertainty, Singh can finally stop wondering whether his collapsed lung will keep him out of the ring. The doctor has given him the green light, and after 22 years of taking bumps, The Bollywood Boy is clearly nowhere near ready to call it a career.
