WWE appears to have locked in its closing match for the August 7 episode of SmackDown, with Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill currently positioned to main event the show. The match was already advertised for tonight, but the early rundown now shows WWE planning to save it for the final spot.
That gives Flair and Cargill a major showcase coming out of SummerSlam, although it is important to note that this is based on the early rundown. WWE can still change the running order before or even during the live broadcast. As noted, early information has CM Punk opening SmackDown.
The confirmed lineup for August 7 SmackDown includes:
- CM Punk expected to open the show
- Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill, currently expected to main event
- Baron Corbin vs. Trick Williams for the WWE United States Championship
- Kevin Owens to appear
- Chelsea Green to appear
- Cody Rhodes responds to Randy Orton’s return
As things currently stand, WWE is bookending SmackDown with Punk at the start and Flair vs. Cargill at the finish, but the early rundown remains subject to change.
