Sherilyn Guerrero is already feeling the pressure that comes with carrying one of wrestling’s most famous last names, but she’s making one thing crystal clear before her career even officially begins — she has no interest in becoming a copy of Eddie Guerrero.
While speaking on The Smooth Vega Podcast, Sherilyn opened up about the reality of stepping into wrestling while fans and people around the business constantly compare her to her father before she’s even had her first match. According to Sherilyn, opinions have been coming from every direction about how Eddie Guerrero’s daughter should wrestle, act, and carry herself inside the ring.
“I feel like if now anything I’m getting even more opinions into how I should do things, how it should be. Your dad did this, so you got to do this.”
Sherilyn admitted those expectations used to bother her a lot more before she worked through personal trauma and learned how to trust her own voice again.
“And um the traumatic thing I went through helped me find my voice to where now using my voice isn’t as scary. It’s I’m more confident in saying, ‘No, I kind of have my own path or I do have my own path that I need to do for myself.’”
Even though she wants to create her own lane, Sherilyn made it clear that Eddie Guerrero’s influence will always be part of her wrestling journey because of what he taught her growing up.
“Luckily he carved a great way for me, you know. He showed me the wrestling boots. He showed me how to tie them up. And now I can take that and tie my own, you know, and that’s that’s something I I’m so grateful for.”
Sherilyn is currently training at Reality of Wrestling under Booker T as she prepares for her eventual debut. Throughout the interview, she spoke openly about reconnecting with wrestling after years of pushing it away emotionally following Eddie Guerrero’s death in 2005.
That balancing act is something fans are already paying close attention to. Wrestling history is full of second and third-generation stars trying to live up to famous family names, but Sherilyn sounds determined to honor Eddie Guerrero without losing herself in the process.
