Kelani Jordan is the new NXT Women’s Champion after defeating Kendal Grey at NXT Heatwave. Jordan got the win after sending Grey headfirst into an exposed turnbuckle, then following up with a moonsault for the three-count.

Jordan earned the match after repeatedly complaining about being passed over for opportunities. Grey eventually handed Jordan a contract for the title match, but the challenger’s big moment ended with her taking a shortcut to leave with the championship.

The match was physical from the opening bell. Jordan worked Grey’s injured ear with elbows, knees and strikes, while Grey answered with gutwrench takedowns, overhead throws and a moonsault.

Grey survived a split-legged moonsault and kept fighting through Jordan’s attacks. She landed a reverse Spanish Fly, caught Jordan in multiple ankle locks and hit Shades of Grey, but Jordan kicked out before the referee could count three.

Jordan stayed alive, even after missing a moonsault late in the match. As Grey tried to regain control, Jordan sent the champion headfirst into the exposed turnbuckle and immediately climbed to the ropes.

Jordan landed a quick moonsault to pin Grey and win the NXT Women’s Championship. She got the gold, but the exposed turnbuckle played a major role in the finish.

Did Kelani Jordan prove she belongs as NXT Women’s Champion, or did she steal the title from Kendal Grey? Leave your feedback in the comments.
