Mercedes Moné is the new AEW Women’s World Champion after choking Willow Nightingale unconscious at All In. Willow threw everything she had at Moné in the closing stretch, but Mercedes trapped her in the Statement Maker and held on until Willow passed out.
The match became increasingly desperate as Willow tried to keep Mercedes down. Moné was sent head-first into the steel steps on the outside, giving Willow an opportunity to recover and take control.
Willow then grabbed the AEW Women’s World Championship and repeatedly smashed Mercedes across the back with the title. With the referee barely recovering, Willow followed with a huge gutwrench powerbomb and went for the cover, but Mercedes somehow kicked out at two.
Willow kept coming and launched Moné into the corner with a buckle bomb. She then looked for an avalanche Doctor Bomb from the top rope, which could have ended everything. Mercedes had an answer.
Moné countered the avalanche Doctor Bomb into a hurricanrana before immediately connecting with a Backstabber. Willow still refused to stay down and caught Mercedes with a backslide for another close two-count.
The champion tried going back to her power game, but Mercedes found the opening she had been waiting for. Moné countered Willow’s next attempt and transitioned directly into the Statement Maker.
Mercedes cranked back on Willow’s neck as she desperately tried to survive. Willow slowly began fading, and eventually she stopped responding altogether. There was no dramatic escape this time. Willow passed out in the submission, bringing the match to an end and crowning Mercedes Moné the new AEW Women’s World Champion.
Mercedes didn’t need Willow to tap to take the championship away from her—she simply refused to release the Statement Maker until Willow could no longer fight. Now another piece of AEW gold belongs to Moné, and the women’s division has a new champion coming out of Wembley.
