Sheamus might have just given wrestling fans a pretty interesting reason to keep an eye on AEW Full Gear. The former WWE Champion is booked for an appearance on the same day as the show, but now he’s apparently trying to get out of there early.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sheamus is scheduled to appear at Big Event NY on November 14. That’s also the same day AEW will hold Full Gear, which becomes a lot more interesting considering Sheamus is currently one of the biggest free agents available.

Here’s the part that’s going to get people talking. Meltzer reports that Sheamus asked this past week whether he could leave Big Event NY early, with Sheamus explaining that he needs to attend a wedding.

Maybe there’s really a wedding. Maybe wrestling fans are about to spend the next month reading way too much into Sheamus’ travel schedule, because there’s currently nothing confirming that his request has anything to do with AEW.

The timing is still hard to ignore, though. Sheamus officially became a free agent after his WWE contract expired at the beginning of October, meaning he’s now free to show up pretty much wherever he wants. AEW interest isn’t imaginary either. We had previously reported that several veteran names within the company have pushed for Tony Khan to bring Sheamus in, with some of those wrestlers having worked with him in the past.

That doesn’t mean Sheamus has secretly signed an AEW contract. There hadn’t been substantial talks between the two sides as of the previous update, and there’s still no report saying a deal has been reached. TNA has also expressed interest in Sheamus, giving him another option outside WWE. For now, he’s a free agent with multiple potential landing spots and no confirmed next move.

So, Sheamus says he’s leaving early because he has a wedding to attend, and that could be the entire story. But when a newly available former WWE Champion with reported AEW interest suddenly needs to leave an appearance early on Full Gear day, wrestling fans are definitely going to start connecting some dots.
