Scorpio Sky knows the clock is ticking on his AEW contract, and he is not pretending the thought of what comes next has not crossed his mind.

Sky’s deal is believed to be nearing its expiration, with his contract expected to run through October 2026. That puts one of AEW’s original roster members in a very interesting position after spending long stretches away from the company’s main television shows.

While speaking on Tagging In with Chris Harris, Sky was asked about the claims surrounding his contract. The interviewer made it clear he was not asking Sky to announce whether he planned to stay with AEW or walk away. Instead, Sky was asked how he was handling the uncertainty and whether he already had a plan in place. Sky admitted he has thought about his future, but he said he is trying to keep his attention on finishing his current AEW run the right way.

“You know, I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I’ve thought about what I’m going to do and what the future looks like, but I really try not to put too much into that. Right now, I’m focused on finishing this chapter the right way, and I have a lot of stories and matches and moments left to be a part of, and I’m excited to step into those moments. So, you know, we’ll let tomorrow handle tomorrow, and I’m just going to focus on today.”

That answer does not confirm Sky is leaving, but it also does not sound like someone ready to promise his future to AEW. His use of the phrase “finishing this chapter” will likely stand out, especially with his contract moving closer to its end.

Sky signed with AEW in 2019 alongside Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels as part of SoCal Uncensored. He and Kazarian became the first AEW World Tag Team Champions, while Sky became the first Black champion in company history. He later won the TNT Championship twice.

Despite that history, Sky has not been a consistent part of AEW television in recent years. Ideas involving Private Party and other possible directions never turned into a sustained push, leaving Sky mostly outside AEW’s biggest storylines.

Sky clearly believes he still has matches and moments left in AEW, but there are only a few months remaining for the company to make that happen. AEW can either find a real role for one of its original champions or risk watching his chapter end without much of a final act.
