AJ Lee has been gone from WWE since WrestleMania 42, but people around the company do not believe she’s finished wrestling.
According to Fightful Select, sources believe AJ has not had her final match, even though there’s no return date and nothing new is currently booked for her.
AJ’s name naturally came up once Paige and the Bella Twins started getting physical. The Bellas attacked Paige at SummerSlam, which made AJ an obvious name for fans to throw into the mix because of her history with both sides. But people in WWE creative said they had not heard AJ was actually planned for that angle, and the talent involved hadn’t been told that was the direction before Brie Bella suffered an injury.
That injury took Brie out of the picture, but WWE is still moving forward with Paige and Nikki Bella. AJ, meanwhile, remains on the sidelines with no confirmed storyline waiting for her.
Back in April, AJ had wrapped up her latest WWE run and wasn’t scheduled for anything in the immediate future. The key part was that WWE never treated WrestleMania as some official goodbye. Months later, that still appears to be the case.
So the situation is pretty simple: AJ Lee is not part of the Paige and Bella Twins story right now, she has no return date, but people around WWE still believe she will wrestle again.
