Santos Escobar isn’t quietly waiting for his WWE contract to officially expire.
With just two days remaining before becoming a free agent, the former WWE star took to Twitter with a message directed at WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H and WWE President Nick Khan, making it clear he believes his story with the company is far from over. Escobar reflected on his WWE run before ending the message with a direct challenge aimed at the two executives.
“2 dias: WWE. I gave everything and that’s what was taken, no regrets. Grateful for the people, the places and circumstances I was put in. I’ll keep growing my legend and my indentation in the industry. Watch me Paul and Nick.”
The post comes ahead of Escobar’s 90-day non-compete clause expires, officially allowing him to sign wherever he chooses after his WWE release earlier this year.
His future has already become one of the biggest talking points surrounding this year’s free-agent class. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Escobar has already landed a mystery feature film role and is currently filming what has been described as a potential breakout performance. He is expected to return to wrestling once production wraps, while also making his first public appearance since leaving WWE at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Before re-signing with WWE last year, reports indicated that CMLL expected Escobar to return to the promotion before WWE made a late offer that changed those plans. With his recovery from triceps surgery also nearing completion, speculation has only grown over where he’ll wrestle next once he officially hits the open market.
For now, though, Escobar’s attention appears to be on the people who ran WWE during his final months with the company. Whether his message was simply one last goodbye or a promise to prove them wrong, Triple H and Nick Khan have officially been put on notice just days before Escobar’s free agency begins.
