Ric Flair is putting the brakes on talk that he’s back with WWE — because the clip that started all of this wasn’t new at all.
A video recently reposted by Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast featured Flair saying he and Triple H had “hugged” and “made up,” while also declaring, “I’m back in.” The clip was presented again online and quickly created the impression that Flair was talking about his current WWE status.
That isn’t the case. The footage was actually an older clip from the podcast that had been reposted, and Flair took to Twitter on September 13, 2026 to personally shut down the idea that he has returned to WWE.
Flair said he has seen the rumors circulating online and made it clear that they are false. He also pushed back on the idea that there had been some recent reconciliation with Triple H, explaining that the two have remained friends.
“I Am Seeing All The Rumors Online About Me Being Back With @WWE. Number One, It Is Disrespectful. Number Two, It Is Not True. I Have Always Been Friends With Hunter. Nothing Has Changed With Our Friendship. We Both Have Mutual Respect For Each Other.”
Flair then pointed out that his daughter, Charlotte Flair, still works for WWE and that he continues to support her. However, he made it clear that he cannot simply go work for WWE because of his current relationship with AEW and Tony Khan.
“My Daughter @MsCharlotteWWE Works For WWE, And I Cheer Her On In The Company. I Am Unable To Work For WWE, Because I Work For @AEW And @TonyKhan.”
The Nature Boy also made it very clear where his loyalty currently sits. Flair praised Khan for allowing him the freedom to continue pursuing his outside business ventures, appearances and other opportunities.
“I Am Very Loyal To Him As He Allows Me The Freedom To Pursue All Of My Business Ventures And Opportunities Like @FlairSpirits, All Of My Signings, @WOOOOOEnergy, And @NASCAR.”
Flair went even further by explaining that his relationship with Khan goes beyond business. He said the two are personal friends and that he would never disrespect him by creating the impression that he was jumping back to WWE.
“Tony And I Are Personal Friends, And He Grew Up Watching Me. I Would Never Ever Disrespect Him.”
Flair closed the message by asking fans to stop spreading the WWE comeback talk and made it clear he’s perfectly comfortable with where things stand.
“Please Stop With The Online Rumors. I Am Happy Where I Am In My Life.”
That clears up the confusion surrounding Flair’s comments about Triple H. The “I’m back in” remark wasn’t a new declaration about returning to WWE in 2026 — it came from an older interview clip that resurfaced. Flair’s current position is now crystal clear: he remains aligned with AEW, remains loyal to Tony Khan and says there has been no recent WWE return.
