Ric Flair is battered, bruised and apparently dealing with some Facebook drama on top of everything else. The WWE Hall of Famer finally broke his silence after a nasty fall sent him to a Florida hospital, sharing a photo of his injured face and promising he’ll be okay. But he also had a bone to pick with whoever was posting on his Facebook page while he was getting medical attention.
Flair was rushed to the hospital on October 23 after taking a nasty spill outside a restaurant in Tampa. The 77-year-old suffered cuts around his head and eye, leaving him bleeding before paramedics arrived. Now, a day later, the Nature Boy is letting everyone see the damage for themselves.
On October 24, Flair posted an update on Twitter alongside a photo showing him smiling with a bandage covering his right eye. He thanked the doctors at Tampa General Hospital for taking care of him until 4:30 in the morning and made it clear that he’s focused on recovering.
“Thank You All For The Messages And Prayers! I Will Get Back To You Each Individually As I Get Stronger. Thank You To All The Tampa General Hospital Staff And Doctors That Put Up With Me Until 4:30am. I Appreciate You All And Thank You For Everything You Did For Me! I Am Focused On My Healing And Recovery Right Now. I Will Be Okay!”
That’s the good news. The strange part came immediately afterward, when Flair suddenly turned his attention to his Facebook account. Apparently, some things were posted while he was in the hospital, and Flair wants absolutely nothing to do with them. He revealed that he doesn’t even own his Facebook page anymore and apologized for what he called reckless posting behavior.
“And Just So You Know For Those Who Were Asking And Wondering, I Don’t Own My Own Facebook Page Anymore. I Apologize For The Reckless Posting Behavior On My Facebook When I Was In The Hospital. It Was Completely Inappropriate!”
Flair didn’t explain what was posted, who controls the page or why the content upset him. But he clearly wasn’t happy about it, especially considering he was dealing with a medical emergency at the time.
The whole situation comes at a rough time for Flair. Hours before his fall, he revealed that he had a blood clot in his leg and needed a medical procedure. Doctors had already restricted his travel, forcing him to cancel an upcoming appearance in Seattle. His daughter Charlotte Flair offered some reassurance Friday night, telling everyone her father was going to be okay. She also revealed that he was already joking with his doctor about The Ultimate Warrior dropping him on his head.
“Not my dad telling the doctor he fell bc of warrior dropping him on his head…(ps: he’s going to be ok)”
Now Flair is speaking for himself, and despite the nasty-looking injury, he seems determined to put the whole ordeal behind him. He’s not giving a timeline for when he’ll be fully recovered, but he’s made two things very clear: he’s going to be okay, and whatever happened on his Facebook page while he was hospitalized didn’t sit well with him.
