Ric Flair has a pretty sweet deal with AEW, and he’s not even trying to hide it. The WWE Hall of Famer openly admitted that he still works for Tony Khan despite doing absolutely nothing for the company. Flair isn’t complaining either, because he believes Khan continues taking care of him simply out of respect.
Speaking during an October 15, 2026 interview on NewsNation’s BIFF, Flair discussed his relationship with the AEW President and had nothing but good things to say about him. He praised Khan for his generosity and his ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, including running AEW and his involvement with the Jacksonville Jaguars. That’s when Flair casually admitted that his own arrangement with Khan doesn’t involve much work.
“He’s got that Learjet. He’s got a beautiful girlfriend. He’s a nice guy. He’s generous. I work for him. I work for him and I don’t do anything.”
The admission caught interviewer Biff Poggi off guard, but Flair didn’t seem to think there was anything unusual about it. He explained that Khan grew up watching him wrestle and believes the AEW President continues looking after him because of everything he accomplished during his career.
“You know, I think he takes care of me out of respect for me, you know?”
Flair made it clear that his relationship with Khan goes beyond business, once again pointing to the personal respect between them.
“He He He grew up on me and um He’s it it’s just a wonderful guy.”
As Ringside News previously covered, Flair signed a multi-year agreement with AEW in November 2023. The deal was announced shortly after he appeared on AEW Dynamite as Tony Khan’s special gift to Sting. It also included a promotional partnership involving Flair’s Wooooo! Energy drink.
Flair played a role in Sting’s retirement storyline leading up to AEW Revolution 2024, but he hasn’t been a regular presence on AEW television since then. That apparently hasn’t changed his relationship with Khan.
In fact, Flair shut down rumors about returning to WWE in September 2026, making it clear that he remains loyal to AEW because Khan allows him to pursue outside business opportunities. Flair also stressed that the two are personal friends.
Flair didn’t reveal how much money he receives under his AEW arrangement or whether his current agreement still includes guaranteed payments. However, he certainly made it sound like Khan is happy to keep him connected to the company whether he’s appearing on television or not.
That’s not a bad position to be in. Flair spent decades traveling the world and putting his body through hell for professional wrestling, and now he’s got a relationship with a billionaire promoter who apparently doesn’t need him to do anything. For the Nature Boy, that might be the easiest job he’s ever had.
