Bronson Reed may be back on WWE television much sooner than expected. There are people within WWE who believe Reed could return to the road as soon as this weekend’s Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.
PWInsider Elite states that some within WWE believe Reed could be back with the company for Sunday Night’s Main Event and return to the road full-time starting with the event. That puts a much tighter window on Reed’s comeback after weeks of signs that WWE was getting ready to bring him back.
WWE creative has already settled on a direction for Reed’s return, with people inside the company expecting him back “very, very soon.” His name has also been discussed for a significant heel role once he returns to television. There were already some major clues that Reed was getting close. Reed visited WWE Headquarters in Stamford near the end of August, where he filmed promotional material and worked through merchandise concepts and revisions.
Ringside News previously noted that Reed was expected back on RAW sometime in September, but the possibility of him appearing at Sunday Night’s Main Event means WWE could pull the trigger before his first full-time Raw appearance.
Reed has been out of action since tearing the distal biceps in his right arm. He underwent surgery shortly afterward and has spent more than six months working toward his comeback. There have also been discussions about a potential Bronson Reed program with Oba Femi later this year. It remains to be seen whether that has anything to do with the creative direction now being prepared for Reed.
Nothing guarantees Reed will appear at Sunday Night’s Main Event, but the fact that WWE personnel believe he could be back on the road beginning with the Atlanta show makes the event one to keep an eye on. With his creative direction set, promotional material filmed and merchandise already being worked on, WWE appears to have almost everything in place for Reed’s return.
