The heartbreaking details surrounding PAC’s final hours are still coming out, and the latest update shows just how suddenly everything changed. His wife, Natalie Taylor, had spoken with him less than three hours before his death — and later called his phone again while police were already at the scene.
According to a newly released Cook County Medical Examiner report obtained by the New York Post, Taylor called PAC’s cellphone on September 27 after he had been found unresponsive inside his rental car in the parking lot of a CAVA restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois. Instead of PAC picking up, police answered his phone.
Taylor then told authorities she had spoken with her husband, whose real name was Benjamin Satterley, less than three hours earlier. At that point, nothing apparently seemed unusual enough to suggest what was about to happen. The report says PAC had told Taylor exactly what he was doing before heading home. He was stopping for food and then planned to make his way to O’Hare Airport.
“Satterley told his wife that he was stopping at the restaurant CAVA before heading to O’Hare Airport.”
There were also some new details about PAC’s health. Taylor told investigators that her husband had been diagnosed with a medical condition and had been prescribed medication, although the specific condition was redacted from the report.
Taylor also told investigators that PAC had “no history of illicit drug or alcohol abuse.” Toxicology testing didn’t turn up anything extraordinary either, with officials ultimately determining that PAC died from bronchial asthma and ruling his death natural.
One other detail stands out in light of the questions surrounding PAC’s final moments. The report says inhalers were found at the scene, meaning he apparently did have access to them when the medical emergency happened.
That’s particularly notable because Dave Meltzer previously wondered whether PAC had an inhaler nearby or whether everything simply happened too quickly for him to get to one.
“Unfortunately you know, usually, you know, you would have the inhaler with you, and I don’t know, you know, you know, it may have happened so quick. There was stuff in his car, in the rental car, but he may not have been able to. It may have happened so quick. He wasn’t able to get it.”
Finding the inhalers doesn’t answer whether PAC tried to use one or whether he even had enough time to do so. It simply clears up one piece of what had previously been unknown about the scene. PAC was found slumped over in the driver’s seat of his running rental car shortly before 4 p.m. The woman who called 911 couldn’t see any signs that he was breathing as she desperately tried to explain what was happening.
“I don’t see his chest moving at all.”
The whole situation is even harder to process considering PAC had wrestled Andrade at AEW All Out the previous night. He was apparently getting ready to fly home the following day, but that trip never happened.
Ringside News previously covered PAC’s official cause of death. On October 16, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that PAC died from bronchial asthma. His death was ruled natural, although there has been no confirmation that his previous blood clot issues played any role in what happened.
Taylor later wrote about the plans they had waiting for him back home, from setting up his new home gym to walking their dog and spending time with friends. Knowing PAC had spoken with her just hours earlier and was planning to head for the airport makes the timeline of his death especially devastating.
