Bronson Reed’s WWE comeback is apparently almost here, and the company already knows what it wants to do with him. After weeks of his name popping up behind the scenes, Reed’s return plans have now moved forward in a big way.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE creative has settled on a direction for Reed’s return and what his comeback will look like. There still isn’t an exact date, but people within WWE believe he’ll be back “very, very soon.”
That’s a step beyond simply knowing Reed is getting close to returning. His name has been gaining traction within WWE for several weeks, with the expectation that he’ll come back as a top-level heel. Those plans have now progressed, meaning WWE isn’t bringing Reed back without something waiting for him.
His recent trip to WWE Headquarters makes a lot more sense with that in mind. Reed visited WWE HQ in Stamford near the end of August, where he filmed promotional material and went over merchandise concepts and revisions. The amount of attention put into that visit was viewed as a positive sign for how WWE plans to use him.
We had previously reported that WWE expects Reed back on RAW sometime in September. There’s still no word on which episode will mark his return, but everything behind the scenes appears to be moving in that direction.
Reed has been gone since tearing the distal biceps in his right arm during the February 23 episode of RAW. He underwent surgery shortly afterwards and has spent more than six months working his way back.
WWE also discussed a potential program between Reed and Oba Femi for later this year. Whether that’s the creative direction now in place remains to be seen, but Reed clearly isn’t expected to come back just to disappear into the middle of the RAW roster.
The merchandise is being worked on, promotional material has been filmed and creative knows what Reed’s comeback will look like. WWE might not be giving away the date yet, but there aren’t many boxes left to check before Bronson Reed is back on television.
